  • Get your UHIP coverage card
  • Access important forms and information
  • Check the status of a claim
  • Sign-up for direct deposit for claims reimbursement

The following are steps to register for your coverage card:

  1. Register for your UHIP insurance at mysunlife.ca (How to Register).
  2. Log into mysunlife.ca to print your coverage card (How to Print Your Coverage Card).
  3. Once you are registered for mysunlife.ca, you can access your coverage card on your smart phone (How to Access My Sun life Mobile).

You can use either your printed or mobile coverage card when you visit a health care provider.

If you are a returning student and already registered for mysunlife.ca:

  1. Log into mysunlife.ca to print your coverage card (How to Print Your Coverage Card).
  2. You can always access your card on your phone (How to Access My Sun life Mobile).

Using your card

Each time you visit a health care provider, you must present your UHIP card as valid proof of your health care coverage. Your card verifies that you are entitled to have your medical expenses covered by UHIP1. If you do not have a printed copy, you may also access and view your UHIP card using the my Sun Life Mobile app

If you forget your UHIP card, you may still be treated by the health care provider.
However, you may be required to pay upfront for your medical fees. Always bring a claim form with you when visiting a health care provider. You will need to complete this form in order to request reimbursement of your medical expenses from Sun Life.

If taken to the hospital emergency room for a serious or life-threatening situation, you will always be treated first. However, once admitted to the hospital you must contact the Case Management team at Sun Life:
By phone 1-877-250-8447 (UHIP) toll free
Or email: case.mgmt@sunlife.com

1 Some health care providers may not accept UHIP. To learn more, please see the Does it matter where I go to receive medical care?

Card Expiration

Your UHIP card is subject to expire within each academic year. Please ensure you have the most current copy of your card with you before visiting a health care provider.

You can obtain a copy of your card by visiting mysunlife.ca or the Sun Life mobile app
